In our Metal 2 class, we learn to machine with the lathe, vertical mill, grinder, and their set ups. This includes the radius cutter, indexing heads, three and four jaw chucks.
Below are experiments with off centering, press fitting, and milling.
The Southbend lathe and the Bridgeport vertical milling machine in our shops are old but robust and safe.
Lathe techniques such as boring, facing, centering, and shouldering our taught in this course after we learned how to sharpen our bits with the grinder.
I failed six times before getting my first press fit due to different factors with working on the lathe.
Day of final crit!
